Depression Support Systems

Everyone feels lonely and lost at some point in their lives. It may feel like everyone else collapses around you and nobody cares in the world. You can not understand is that there are support systems around you who may not be aware. Family, friends, and even other people may not even be considered, there are many people who are ready and willing to help. Take a look at your family. Most involve some sort of family dysfunction, and most families are struggling from time to time. Sometimes these fights are more extreme than others and sometimes people do not talk to them. However, your family is the first place you can go for support when they feel depressed and need a shoulder to cry on. Siblings can be an important source of support because they were probably grown in the same environment as you, and most likely experienced the same sadness and feelings that affect you.

The family does not always mean a blood relationship. It may not seem time to time, but everyone has friends to come back. Some of those friends can be close enough that they can also be taken into account by the family. A true friend who really cares about you being ready and willing to support you in your depression if it were to be open and honest with them, ask their help. If they refuse to help or do not care, they are not good friends to start and you're better off with more people around to support you.

Aside from your friends, you should also consider talking to an authority figure whom you trust like a teacher or spiritual leader. This can be a difficult prospect for many people because in many cases, teachers and other authority figures can have an air of separation from you, either by accident or by design. However, they can be a great source of support and provide a good sounding board that you can use when you feel sad and depressed. If you go to school, you can also try to talk to a counselor, although, of course, most teenagers find this idea quite distasteful.
